Sushi

Let's discuss SUSHI!!! Two great places to go to when in Orange County, specifically Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, are Sushi Imari and Sushi Zen. You literally cannot go wrong at either one.
Sushi Imari is a family run, little sushi hot spot, that has everything and anything. If not in the mood for sushi, try their Tempura Udon, I get it every time. The noodles are thick and yummy, the broth is great for a sore throat, there is also plenty of scallions, tofu, and kelp floating about the bowl. Some rolls you might enjoy are the Rainbow Roll, that is visually stunning. The Baby Lobster Roll is SPICY, but worth the heat. The Hurricane Roll is a basic California Roll topped with scallops that have been fried in tempura batter. The Crunchy roll is always good. THe Bada-bing Roll is a giant crunchy roll but with fried calamari. Oh, don't forget to try the Plum Ice Cream, so refreshing! And if you're thirsty go for the simple and basic iced tea. It's mango flavored, and the best iced tea anywhere, and believe me I have been drinking iced tea since I was two, so I would know!

Now on to Sushi Zen. Sushi Zen is located in Triangle Square off of the 55 freeway. Honestly, I've never tried anything but the crunchy roll as far as their sushi goes. The Tempura batter is so light and airy and their sweet sauce will make your taste buds dance! Avoid the tempura udon, it used to be good, but not so much anymore.
